It's OK to Not Answer
You Don't Have to Answer
At the llama show a few weeks ago I got to practice just being quiet.
So often we feel that if someone is talking🗣️ to us we have to respond.
That's not necessarily true.
We can make a decision if a response is necessary.
You get to decide if you want to respond.
It had been a long couple of days with many questions and requests.
I was just enjoying watching some of the beautiful llamas, like Riviera here, with his owner, Becky.
Someone was talking to me, but I realized that no response was required.
There was no question.
Nothing that required me to do anything.
I could just sit. Listen to what was said. And enjoy the show.
Not responding can be so peaceful.
Here's the amazing thing...
You don't have to answer questions either.
I know - crazy thought, isn't it?
We've been trained to answer questions... but you don't have to.
You can make a comment. Or ask a question of your own. Or stay silent.
(I'm still working on this one, it's hard for me.)
So, this week, see if you can not respond when someone's talking to you.
For bonus points, see if you can not answer a question.
Let me know how it felt.
